I like animation a lot. There was a time when I had decided on
animation as my career. But things took a very different turn and
here I am, writing software for.. ..um.. money!
However sometime back I got a chance to experiment with this tool
called Macromedia Flash™ and I tried some of these things...
The scripting makes it simple for programmers to do animation.
I did some of the exercises after reading portions of "Animators
Survival Guide" (a wonderfull must-read book for all animators).
I have purposefully avoided including all the Flash animation
in this page since it slows down each other and will require a lot
of resources. Just click on the "View" links to see each
one in its actual size.
This is the Flash version of the applet on my home page. Flash has
antialiasing by default (while Java™ 1.0 does not) and hence
looks much better than the applet. The input set of points is same
as that of the applet and hece would require the trace/ drawing
application to generate the input file.

the animation of a bouncing ball with a exaggerated squish effect.
It more or less follows the well known parabolic path of
a freely falling body with the alternating acceleration and deceleration
shifts.
View
the bouncing ball done entirely using the actionscript
in Flash. It exactly follows the well known parabolic path and has
additional friction/ dampness effect added. Click anywhere inside
the box to drop the ball from that position.

the simple animation of a human walking. I realized how complex/
simple our walk was. It is actually a set of short falls followed
by stops, supposedly very efficient using the gravity! The bounce
of the head, the counter balancing by the swing of the arms, etc.,
is very intersting (after you realize the simplicity :-) ) .

the animated opening for this website. I did not use it since a
lot of people hate intro Flash animations :-)
It uses a "Typewriter" Flash component I made.

the opening Flash animation for a presentation of mine on Continuous
Integration and Automated Testing. I ts a dialogue between a software
tester and lead developer during the "integration phase"
of the project.
This one also uses the "Typewriter" Flash component. I
reuse it often.
